Topsy-Turvey - Max Sweets

Picture this: Rental car packed to the brim. My three children climbing in. Husband in driver's seat. Pandemic. College campuses are remote, yet we sent our eldest to NYC for her senior year. My middle daughter to Pennsylvania. Both girls are living off-campus to be with friends all yearn for normalcy. They want to "pretend" they are going to school as usual. I guess we all want that, but as a mom sending them away, I acted against all logic. After drop-off, my husband and son returned home immediately. 3560 miles later. I now await the call letting us know our daughters need to return home. These are topsy-turvy times.

 

BUT we all have one thing in common during these topsy-turvy times:

BUT we all have one thing in common during these topsy-turvy times: get through to the other side of this pandemic.

And, staying healthy is at the top of the list. Since March, my family has been homebound until now, and both my girls committed to losing some college weight and feeling good about themselves. They accomplished their goals using a scale and a calorie diary. When they weren't making and shipping Max Mallows, they were home making the best of an unprecedented situation.

What struck me as odd was how mainstream diets still focus on calories. It does not matter where these calories come from, just stay within 1200-1500 calories per day depending on the exercise.

BUT where calories come from matters and counting them does not always work in the long run.
